ISMA Conference & Event Duty of Care Statement & Waiver

The safety of those attending the International Security Management Association’s (ISMA) conferences and events is our top priority. In response to COVID-19, attendees must agree to the following requirements prior to registering for any ISMA conference or event.

We are strong in our commitment to keeping the ISMA community informed, engaged, and connected. Therefore, we are relying on everyone to do their part to keep themselves and everyone else safe during the conference. Your conduct impacts others.

Attendee Requirements

Before Leaving Home
  • Attendees must follow relevant guidance provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), and/or the government/ local health authority for the locality in which the event will be held.
  • Attendees must adhere to government-issued travel guidance and all applicable restrictions issued by the region to which they will be traveling, and the region from which they are traveling.
  • Attendees shall evaluate their own health and that of people with whom they are in close contact within 14 days prior to the conference dates and should contact the ISMA staff if they have any concerns.
  • Attendees must STAY HOME if they feel ill, actively experience COVID-19 symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19.
On-Site During the Event
  • ISMA and its attendees must adhere to the protocols put in place at the event venue. ISMA and the event venue will follow all local COVID-19 laws and regulations, which are subject to change without notice.
  • All attendees will respect others’ personal space throughout the course of the conference.
  • Hand sanitizer and other sanitization and hygiene products will be available for attendee use throughout the conference space. Attendees are expected to use these available resources regularly and to practice everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.
  • If an attendee begins to actively experience COVID-19 symptoms during the conference and/or tests positive for COVID-19 during the conference, they should notify ISMA staff immediately and plan to leave the event.

 

Personal Accountability Commitment

By registering for and attending an ISMA conferences, you agree to abide by and engage in the outlined health-and-safety conduct while attending the event. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Adhering to all Duty of Care Attendee Requirements outlined above;
  • Wearing a mask if required;
  • Engaging in appropriate physical distancing and hygiene practices;
  • Not attending the event if you are ill, actively experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.
If attendees fail to adhere to these standards, the Association may take any action it deems appropriate, including but not limited to expulsion from the current and future meetings with no warning or refund.

Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

ISMA cannot prevent you from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while attending its events and/or entering premises where ISMA events are held. It is not possible to prevent the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to attend a conference organized by ISMA and enter onto premises where its events are held, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I have read and understood the above warning concerning COVID-19. I understand my attendance is voluntary and hereby accept the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 at an ISMA event.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY: By registering for an ISMA event, I hereby release and waive my right to bring a claim or lawsuit against ISMA and its officers, directors, managers, officials, trustees, agents, employees, or other representatives for any liability in connection with exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19 related to my attendance at an ISMA event. I understand that this waiver means I give up my right to bring any claim based in negligence, including for personal injuries, death, disease or property losses, or any other loss, whether known or unknown, foreseen, or unforeseen.

By registering for an ISMA event, I affirm that I have read, understand, and agree to the Attendee Requirements and Personal Accountability Commitment. I further affirm that I have read, understand, and agree to the Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability provisions above. I am making a commitment to do my part to ensure a safe event for all attendees.
