Activities

ISMA Conferences:

January and June Member-Only Meetings:

ISMA conducts two general meetings per year, one in January and one in June. These meetings are structured over a 3-4 day period, and generally include 2-3 days of full session, coupled with networking opportunities and an evening social agenda. These meetings are restricted to ISMA members only, with occasional opportunities for guests for special events.

ISMA/OSAC Regional Security Conferences:

ISMA partners with the U.S. Department of State in providing regional forums for the public and private sector to gather and address security issues of mutual concern to global companies conducting business in the region. Attendance at each of these 3-day conferences have included 100-200 representatives from global companies and representatives from the U.S. and British embassies in the region and local law enforcement in the region. Conferences to-date include: Bangkok (May-1999), Cairo (May-2000), and Buenos Aires (March-2001), Prague (May-2002), Singapore (March-2003), Mexico City (March-2004), Dubai (March-2005), Hong Kong (March-2006, Istanbul (March-2007) Bangkok (March-2008), Budapest (April-2009), Miami (March-2010), and Dubai (March-2011)

Leadership Program – Georgetown University:

This program is an intensive executive education and management development seminar developed six years ago by ISMA in partnership with Georgetown University. Taught and certified by Georgetown, the program is designed to prepare the next generation of Security Directors for the strategic challenges ahead. The program spans a one-year period of time and includes three phases – two sessions of classroom instruction in Washington D.C., and one session of independent study. Eleven classes, comprised of a total of 500+ security executives, have graduated from the program.

Leadership Program – Kellogg School of Management:

The most recently introduced program has partnered with the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, to conduct a two 4-day concentrated leadership / management course in the spring of each year.

ISMA Europe Meetings:

In the fall of every year, the European members of ISMA conduct a 3-day conference in a different city in Europe, hosted by a local ISMA member.   These meetings provide the unique opportunity for our members from European companies to get together in a smaller, less formal setting, to discuss regional issues and challenges.

ISMA Asia Conferences:

ISMA has recently partnered with the Asia Crisis and Security Group to host joint conferences in Asia.   The first such conference was held in Mumbai, India, in May of 2009, with 100+ security executives in attendance.

Executive Development Seminars:

Executive Development Seminars are designed for a much smaller group and target a specific management development topic. Attendance is generally 30-50 people and is generally a two-day program structured in a classroom environment. Several Executive Development Seminars have been conducted at Motorola University in Chicago, focused on Risk Management issues, and were conducted primarily by ISMA members. The second series of these seminars were partnered with academic, specifically professors from Harvard University. Topics have included "The Art of Persuasion," and "Internal Controls."

Government Agency Briefings:

Through our relationships with government security agencies, ISMA members are afforded the benefit of private briefings on global threats and terrorism.  Several such briefings have been conducted in New York City, Washington D.C., and London.
